Servicing and maintenance

Automatic doors in public buildings should be inspected and serviced regularly so the safety devices keep working and the door opens reliably for everyone who uses it. BS EN 16005 sets out the safety requirements for powered pedestrian doors.

We are ADIA certified and carry out DoorSafe safety checks with a BS EN 16005 test body. We service the operator, check and adjust the sensors and safety devices, and tell you clearly what needs attention before any further work is done. Doors can go onto a planned maintenance schedule with a record for every visit.

New automatic door installations

We supply and install new automatic sliding, swing and folding doors for shopfronts, offices, healthcare sites and communal entrances, including the operator, sensors, safety devices, access control and signage, commissioned and safety-tested to BS EN 16005.

We also look after older and discontinued systems such as Dor-O-Matic, early Besam, Dorma ED and ES ranges, Record System 20, Stanley Dura-Glide and older GEZE and Gilgen operators. Where parts are no longer made, we source compatible parts or retrofit a new operator onto the existing door.

Common questions

Which makes of automatic door do you work on?

All the major makes, including Record, dormakaba, GEZE, Label, ASSA ABLOY and Besam, TORMAX, Horton, Stanley and Gilgen, plus older systems such as Dor-O-Matic. Send a photo of the operator if you're not sure.

Can you repair an old or discontinued automatic door?

Usually, yes. We source compatible parts where they exist. If the operator can't be repaired economically, we can retrofit a new one onto your existing door and frame rather than replacing the whole entrance.

Do you install new automatic doors?

Yes. We supply, install and commission new automatic sliding, swing and folding doors, and convert existing manual doors to automatic.

How often should an automatic door be serviced?

It depends on how busy the entrance is. Most commercial doors need servicing at least once a year, and busier entrances more often. We can set a schedule that suits the site.

Can you take over maintenance from another contractor?

Yes. We can inspect the doors, report on their condition and take them onto a planned maintenance schedule, whatever the make.
